Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale's daughter is among the people trapped inside the Dusit D2 Hotel in Nairobi's Westlands area.
In a tweet Tuesday evening, the Senator confirmed that his daughter is inside the building under terror attack.
"Am on the scene of the terrorist attack in Chiromo. My daughter is trapped in the building under attack!" he wrote.
Security forces have since landed in great numbers at the scene and are currently combing it in a his to rid it of the suspected terrorists.
Somali based terror organization All Shabaab has since confirmed that it is behind that attack.
No information about the actual number of victims has since been issued by the relevant authorities.
However, the police through Inspector General Joseph Boinnet has maintained that his officers are working tirelessly to combat the attack and restore calm.
He has warned the public against spreading pictures attempting to depict the actual image of the ground to avoid misleading the public.
A number of victims have since been rushed to nearby health facilities as the officers continue combating the suspected terrorists.
The attack started at around at 3PM.
