Jumwa who publicly declared support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, has been asked to show-cause why she should not be disciplined for going against the party regulations.

In a letter dated September 19, ODM disciplinary committee chairman Fred Athuok, said 10 other lawmakers from Nakuru, Homa Bay and Nyamira counties have also been summoned and should appear before it on October 10.

“The party disciplinary mechanisms will soon kick in and we will inform the public in due time on our next cause of action,” said Athuok.

However, a section of Malindi residents find the letter ill-motivated, saying Jumwa is their leader and should not be intimidated.

Carrying pro-Jumwa placards, the protesters issued a terse warning to ODM party and its mandarins to "respect Aisha for she is focused on matters development."

"The party politics are just some diversionary tactics by her rivals who are hellbent to derail her development record for Malindi," said one of the protesters.

Responding to the matter, Jumwa said: "I wish to make it clear that time for election is over and that is why we are preaching peace, unity and team work in support of the Building Bridges Initiative."
