Mutyambai decided to drive himself in the city centre and experience firsthand what motorists go through.

According to the Standard, the IG did not display an iota of power as he manoeuvred through Nairobi’s back-to-back traffic.

Mutyambai seemed relaxed and was accompanied by a male passenger. Many of Kenya’s leaders are known to display arrogance on the roads as they demand VIP treatment.

Some VIPs have been captured running around the city's traffic with sirens to clear the road, driving on the wrong lanes among other road illegalities.

Renowned activist Boniface Mwangi once faced-off with an MP who was driving in the wrong lane.

The activist blocked the MP and forced the car to reverse.

The incident occurred when Mwangi, driving alongside NTV news anchor Larry Madowo, met the politician driving against oncoming traffic along Parliament Road.

“Why are you on the wrong side? Reverse the car because you won't pass through this side. Who are you? We pay your salaries and yet you disobey traffic rules. No one is special because laws should apply to everyone,”  Mwangi said.
