Days after Hivisasa first reported on how monkeys have turned into agony for Mwamonari residents in Kitutu Cache North, the menace has now gone a notch higher.

On Monday, a local told Hivisasa yet again that the monkeys have now become so bold that they are fetching from their houses, something that further worsens the situation.

"Like yesterday, the monkeys came over into my kitchen. The door was open. I found the monkeys scratching and eating the leftovers of the food of the previous night," said Conceptor Kerubo.

She said that efforts to scare them off bore no fruits because they are not afraid of women at all. "When they see me as a woman they do not run away unlike when my husband is around. They are becomig a nuisance, let the government help us." Kerubo said.

Another resident only identified as Gichana said that he has tried severally to trap them but they never fall for the trap as would be expected.

"I have been trying to trap them with ripe bananas but this species is tricky. They eat bananas but get away without being trapped. They also make a lot of noise in the morning hours something that makes our children afraid of going to school," said Gichana.

Those whose farms are at the hills decry harvesting nothing as the monkeys invade their farms very early in the morning before returning to the hills.

The residents are now calling upon Kenya Wildlife Services to help them as they are staring at a possible famine should action not be taken to quell the situation.
