For close to a month now, Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has assumed a low profile on matters national politics.

Even when his closest ally, William Ruto, was under intense 'humiliation' by ardent critics from the opposition and team 'Kitaeleweka' outfit within Jubilee party, Mandago opted to stay away from the developments.

His silence has, however, sparked suspicion as to whether he was contemplating dumping the Deputy President.

What has even heightened the speculation is the move by his governor friend from Elgeyo Marakwet county Alex Tolgos who has publicly declared support for Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Though his silence is too loud, it could also mean a different thing given the fact that he is not eligible to vie for another term as governor.

Sources within Mandago's circles indicate that he is working to fulfil some of the promises he made to the electorate as he seeks to leave a legacy as the county's first ever governor.

Amid Mandago's silence, the vote-rich North Rift region is undergoing massive political realignments ahead of 2022. Just this week, former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto revealed that he was in talks with Senator Moi for a possible working outfit in the next elections.

It now remains to be seen if Mandago will stick to his long time ally DP Ruto as he seeks to fulfil his presidential ambition come 2022.
