Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga should not bank on President Uhuru Kenyatta's support in his presidential bid, exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has cautioned.
Miguna said Uhuru will still turn against the former Prime Minister despite their March 9, 2018 peace deal.
Although both Uhuru and Raila have maintained their handshake had nothing to do with 2022 polls, some political commentators have observed the duo may work together in the succession battle.
The two political bigwigs have been spearheading calls for a referendum, amid speculations Uhuru could be prime minister after 2022 in the proposed expanded executive setup.
But according to Miguna, Raila should not trust the Jubilee party leader, since it was 'obvious' he will betray him.
In a tweet on Sunday, the outspoken lawyer said just like Kenya's founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta (Uhuru's father) allegedly 'betrayed and assassinated' his close ally and confidant Tom Mboya, it was given the President will do the same to his foe-turned-ally Raila.
"At the height of his power in 1966 many believed that Mboya was virtually Kenyatta's co-president. He was smart, eloquent and well-organized. Mboya was one million times more effective that Raila Odinga. Yet he was betrayed and assassinated by Kenyatta. There will be no miracles," Miguna posted.
In a past social media post, Miguna opined that Uhuru will endorse his brother Muhoho Kenyatta to be his successor.
