Whether Kameme FM will retain them or otherwise, it became evidently clear on Monday, June 24 that the die had been cast for the veteran Kikuyu broadcaster PM Squared alongside her withered co-host, comedian Machang'i alias Man Solo Papa.

This is after the expensively poached Man Simo-Katta duo made their debut on the station's 'Humuka' drive show which PM and Machangi have both co-hosted uninterruptedly since 2010.

But as I had noted here eight months ago, it was a matter of when and not if the two would be flushed out of the station's prime time drive show owing to its plummeting audience ratings.

'Humuka' show, one radio poll after another had continuously been rated a distant second behind Inooro FM's rival show 'Cua Cua' which was hosted by Man Simo & Katta who have now thrown the immediate 'Humuka' co-hosts to the redundancy corner after decamping to the DSM Place-based Kikuyu radio station earlier this month.

Robert Greene in his widely read book '48 Laws of Power' notes: "Do not go past the mark you aimed for; in victory, learn when to stop..."

Similarly and as noted in the same earlier article, PM Squared had the option to retire from the airwaves honourably with her head held high after a lengthy and decorated radio career but she apparently opted to 'go past the aimed mark' which saw her pushed out disgracefully.

Nonetheless, assuming that Mediamax Network Limited, the stable that owns Kameme FM alongside other major radio brands, decides to retain the two, what will be next in store for them?

Well, as for Machang'i, you and I can easily agree that it is the end of the road for him as it pertains to radio. His forced departure comes at a time when his audience ratings are close to a freezing point occasioned by near-zero comical creativity and cut-throat competition from his ilk in the industry.

PM Squared on the other hand, if she still wants to hang around radio, Kameme FM can easily retain her to continue reading casual and funeral announcements, a segment on Kikuyu radio where she is yet to find an equal.
