Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Saturday accompanied his Taita Taveta counterpart Granton Samboja for a funds drive at Mwakishimba primary school.
The fundraiser saw more than Sh8 million raised in aid of the school.
Governor Joho, who was the guest of honour, donated Sh1 million personal contribution while Samboja donated Sh500,000.

Speaking at the event, Samboja who is an alumnus of the primary school, said the money would be used to improve the school's infrastructure including construction of additional classes.
Several senators, MPs, and MCAs attended the function.
The leaders emphasised the need for education among the youth, saying it opens a child's mind. They also reiterated the need for coastal unity.
