For close to a month now, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Amollo Odinga has been longing for the historic day 14th December 2018 to receive PhD honorary degree from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.
On Friday, Raila will receive a honorary degree from the institution in recognition of his personal contribution in leadership, public service and the transformation of the democratic space in Kenya.
Last month, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University, in an advert in one of the local newspapers under the MyGov pages, revealed that Raila would be conferred with a honorary degree by the institution.
“The University Senate has therefore determined that the Right Honorable Odinga is worthy of the conferment of Honorary Degree of Doctor of Sciences (Honoris Causa),” the newspaper advert reads in part.
The opposition premier is not a new recipient of honorary degrees from several highly ranked academic institutions across the world. Among the Universities that have since feted Raila is The University of Nairobi and The Great Lakes University.
