For the better part of last week, bloggers reported about three times that Dr Manduku had died, causing anxiety all over the social media platforms.

Reporting about his death consequently, never bothered many people, who were now accustomed to his death, given the inappropriate reporting by bloggers.

Last week, the family had to come out to dispell the rumours about his death, accusing bloggers of 'killing him before his actual death at Nairobi Hospital'.

"He's not dead like some people want you to believe. He's been unwell. He has been receiving church elders and family members only," a family member had said in confidence.

Politician Don Bosco Gichana, a close friend, had to move to Nairobi Hospital to take a photo that showed Dr Manduku was still receiving guests.

"Visit to Hon Dr Manduku. The great man doing great," wrote Don Bosco, his close friend of many years.

His death could cause paradigm shift in Gusii politics given his experience and mastery of local and national politics that saw him elected twice.

He first got into Parliament in 1992 before losing in 1997 to Prof Sam Ongeri in Nyaribari Masaba constituency. He returned to parliament in 2002 on Ford People.

Dr Manduku served as assistant minister in Foreign Affairs during President Daniel Moi's regime. He is the proprietor of Hema Hospital. He was born in 1940.
