Kesses Member of Parliament Dr Swarup Mishra has come to the rescue of Jude Rono, a youth recently diagnosed with acute Leukemia.
Rono, a resident of Kesses constituency is currently under medical care at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town waiting for financial support from friends and well-wishers to contribute for his special medication in India.
Mishra, flanked with former Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer on Sunday visited Rono at his hospital bed and pledged to support him.
The MP contributed Sh1 million while Terer gave Sh500 towards the medical kit.
“I was indebted to chip into the situation and Mr Jude will be airlifted to India for bone-marrow transplant by the grace of God. Am also determined to address this menace by cancer disease through Parliamentary Health Committee,” said Mishra pledging to the family that he will be I charge of medication process of their ailing son.
The MP who is also the Mediheal Group of Hospitals chairman also offered his cancer specialist friend doctor to alleviate the hectic bill of Sh6 million, subsequently cutting down the bill to Sh3.5 million.
Rono who is also an orphan had appealed for financial support for his medical bill, a story that hivisasa highlighted.
Leukemia occurs when the bone marrow makes abnormal blood cells, usually white blood cells, which do not function as they should.
The abnormal cells survive longer, build up in large numbers, and enter the bloodstream, consequently affect the lymphocytic type of white blood cells in the body.
