Former Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Martha Karua has yet again ruled out possible partnership with Deputy President William Ruto, even as Mt Kenya region remains unsettled ahead of 2022 polls.
A Twitter user, Gilbert Ng'eno, had sarcastically ruled out Ms Karua in the Deputy President William Ruto lineup, a move the evoked the former presidential candidate's response.
"#WaiguruDP2022 political darling and she deserves a woman DP the rest like @MarthaKarua can be avoided because of her stand..she can easily Resign as DP if pressurized," Ng'eno wrote.
In a swift response, the former Gichugu MP said: "The real issue is that I cannot deputise an unsuitable candidate!"
Ms Karua has been a critic of Dr Ruto despite their brief reunion months to 2017 polls. In April this year, Karua said Ruto is unsuitable to lead the country.
"Let me say it again, I have said before, he's the least qualified. Personally I think he's totally unsuitable to lead. But if Kenyans decide so, I have no powers. But he's least qualified," said Ms Karua.
Her Kirinyaga gubernatorial competitor in 2017, Governor Ann Waiguru, on Tuesday said she has been given two offers to be running mate. She did not however, reveal those who have approached her.
“I have at least two offers for the deputy president position, but it is not the right time to name the parties,” she said in an exclusive interview with the Nation.
