Accompanied by National Land Commission Vice chairperson Abigail Mbagaya, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari and a host of MCAs, Chelugui visited the Mwache Dam Multi-Purpose project site before holding a consultative meeting with stakeholders and residents of Mwache and Fulugani.

He held a consultative meeting between Ministry of Water and Sanitation, County Government of Kwale, Coast Development Authority, the National Land Commission and World Bank over the Ksh14.8 billion project which is expected to pump at least 196,000m3 litres of water daily to Kwale and Mombasa counties upon its completion.

The CS' sentiments were echoed by Mbagaya, who maintained that no stakeholders will be left out of the compensation process.

On his part, Governor Mvurya warned officers that will be doing the ground work that no corruption and confusion will be tolerated, adding that meetings should be done in the open, and that local leaders and citizens have to be informed in good time.

"We will not rest until this exercise is done to satisfaction. I am also happy to note that the chairperson NLC and CS Chelugui fully support our position as Kwale leaders and we look forward to a fruitful compensation process," he said on Wednesday.

Over 3,000 families will be affected as bidding for the project is almost complete ahead of the official construction kick-off in early 2019.
