A nominated MCA in Kisii County has defended the 'cheap' gift she donated to a local church in Riana ward.
Betty Obiri said the battery she donated on Sunday to St Gabriel Catholic Church was what the church requested her to give.
"The church management and members have been suffering for years without a battery which can enable them to run the church services. I offered what I could afford," she said.

She accused her opponents of using locals to insult and attack her.
Mrs Obiri reiterated that she is committed to giving back to the society and those criticising her efforts should wait for their time to serve the electorates to come.
"I don't fear anyone apart from God. I will continue offering donations to people and I won't succumb to criticism. I have plans to help the church to get connected with electricity," she added.
She urged locals of Riana to shun local leaders who are out to taint her name.
This comes after a section of locals on Sunday attacked the MCA for donating the cheap battery to the church saying what the church needed is electricity connection.
