9:40 am: The Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) Secretary General Moss Ndiema has been arrested following disruption of flights at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday morning.
9:30 am: The government has deployed officers from General Service Unit and Anti-riot police to calm the situation at the facility after workers decided to down their tools.
"It came to my attention that KQ management went to court and were given a temporary injunction. In cases like this, parties need to obey the law; no one is above the law," Yattani said.
9:10 am : Labor Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani urges the striking workers to obey court orders in an interview with Citizen TV.
"We advise all passengers using JKIA to get in touch with their respective airlines to confirm their travel arrangements. Thousands of passengers headed to various destinations are stranded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi after workers decided to down their tools on Wednesday morning.
The strike has disrupted flights at the facility amid takeover by the Kenya Airways (KQ).
The Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) has opposed the proposed change in management of the facility.
The workers have expressed their dissatisfaction over the way the management is conducting its activities at the facility including merger plans.
They want their grievances addressed with immediate effect before they can resume work.
