Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal now claims that the graft charges pressed against him by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji are a witch-hunt.
The embattled county boss says he is being framed for what he did not commit.
Speaking to journalists after walking out of Industrial Area Prison where he spent two nights, Lenolkulal said he will soon be vindicated by the courts.
"God will save me from all the falsehoods that have been levelled against me," he said.
The Governor stated that he has confidence that the court will find him innocent.
Lenolkulal accused graft agencies of using the media to fight corruption and further claimed that the agencies are dramatising the war on graft.
Lenolkulal walked to freedom after paying Sh10 million cash bail.
On Tuesday, Lenolkulal pleaded not guilty to charges of abuse of office, illegal acquisition of public property, conflict of interest and conspiring to defraud the county government Sh84 million in fuel fraud.
He is accused of using his company, Oryx Services, to sell fuel to the County Government of Samburu.
According to the charge sheet, the Governor and others committed the offence between March 2013 and March 2019.
The case will be mentioned on April 29.
