Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga is set to lead the party leadership in a joint press conference with Ken Okoth's family, it has emerged.
The Kibra MP succumbed to cancer on Friday after prolonged treatment in Europe, which did not otherwise yield fruits. He was serving his second term under ODM.
According to the party, the entire leadership shall convene at Silver Springs Hotel, located in Upper Hill, just opposite Department of Defense headquarters on Tuesday evening.
"The ODM Party leadership will today at 6pm hold a joint press conference with the family of Kibra MP the late Hon. Ken Okoth at Silver Springs hotel on his funeral arrangements," the party said in a tweet.
Last week, Odinga revealed that he used the better part of Wednesday looking for Okoth at Nairobi Hospital but his phone were off. He flew to Mombasa on Thursday.
Further, he said, he had boarded a plane from Mombasa on Friday to have a talk with Mr Okoth, only for him to get tragic news about his demise.
"Yesterday (Thursday) in the morning I went to several functions before flying out to Mombasa. I was hoping to see him when I came back today, then at the airport, I realised that he had passed on. The day before he died I spent one hour looking for him,” a sad Raila revealed.
“I spoke to him about a month ago, but the day before he died, I had a bad premonition. I went to look for him at The Nairobi Hospital then I was told that he had been discharged," he said.
Although the family is yet to issue statement, there is a controversy about his burial. Sources claim that his kin at Rangwe in Homa Bay wants his remains interred there.
