Members of the clergy have condemned the brutal killing of an orphaned girl in Nyaura, Kisii County.
The clergy led by Kisii Catholic priest Lawrence Nyaanga and Kisii Cathedral priest Godfrey Ototo said the killing of Judith Moraa was not only a loss to the family but also a loss to the community.
Nyaanga challenged detectives to move with speed to bring Moraa's killers to book.
"Whoever killed Moraa must be brought to book. As members of the clergy we condemn the brutal killing of Moraa with the strongest terms possible and urge detectives to move with speed to nab the killers," said Nyaanga on Wednesday in Kisii during a church service organised to celebrate Moraa's life.
Nyaanga who doubles up as the Kisii University Chaplain appealed to residents to stop killing each other.
"Killing is a sin in the eyes of the Lord and therefore there is a need for locals to consider living in peace," he stated.
On his part, Ototo expressed confidence that the family of the deceased will receive justice.
"I have no doubt police will apprehend whoever killed Moraa. She had a bright future but the killers terminated it prematurely," noted Ototo.
