Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi' is one of the many individuals who had very busy schedules in 2018.
The CS has had a remarkable share of moments of controversy.
At one given time this year, Matiang'i issued a directive that almost landed him in trouble with Muslim faithful.
While gazetting the Eidul Adha holiday, the interior CS brushed shoulders with a section of the Muslim community, who faulted him for setting a date for the holiday, a thing the Muslim fraternity said he had no clue about.
Led by Muslim Chief Kadhi Sheikh Ahmed Mudhar, the faithful ignored Matiang'i's announcement, observing the holiday on Wednesday 22 August as opposed to the gazetted Tuesday 23.
"We shall observe the day on Wednesday 22 August and not on Tuesday as announced by the government," claimed the chief Kadhi.
However, a section sided with the CS accusing the chief Kadhi of misleading the community.
Amid the disagreements, Matiang'i stood firm to his directive forcing the faithful to mark the date as gazetted.
Eid al Adha is one of the few holidays that the Muslim believers observe annually and are subject to amazement by the government on the advice of clerics.
