Despite intensified police patrols in Esise ward, Nyamira County, armed cattle rustlers stormed Ekebuse village on Tuesday night and stole three cows.
Confirming the incident, area police boss Michael Lesmum said the thieves stormed the village at 2 am and stole the cows.
"Cattle theft is illegal and punishable by law. It seems some residents are coordinating with cattle rustlers from neighbouring Narok County to steal people's cattle. Police who responded to an alarm raised by locals managed to chase after the thieves and recovered the stolen cows at the border of Narok and Nyamira," Lesmum said.
The police boss raised concern over increased cattle theft but assured that police officers are doing everything possible to end the vice.
He warned locals against engaging in crime saying the law will not spare anyone.
"Members of the public are advised to cooperate with police to end cattle theft in the area. Any local caught colluding with thieves will face the full force of the law," he added.
The incident comes after police in the area recently recovered 5 cows which were stolen on Monday night from Esise ward.
