Opposition chief Raila Odinga's spokesman Dennis Onyango is optimistic that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report will have recommendations which will mark a new dawn for the country.

In a tweet on Monday, he claimed the report will be vehemently opposed by individuals who have been at the forefront in propagating divisive polls and graft.

"Every old order puts up a spirited fight before it dies. Colonialism, single party rule, old constitution all fought back. Old Kenya of divisive elections, marginalized communities and corruption won’t be different ahead of BBI launch. A new Kenya is near, BBI is uniting Kenya," Onyango said.

BBI was established following the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, 2018.

ODM leaders have been urging their supporters to rally behind the report which will be handed over to the president and the former prime minister on Tuesday.

“Kenya will politically never be the same again and of course Raila will emerge out of this stronger than ever before,” Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga said as quoted by Sunday Standard.

However, a section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto such as Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale have threatened to shoot down the report on grounds it is illegal and unconstitutional.

“BBI is illegal and unconstitutional, it can't be a substitute for upholding the constitution. Implementation of the reports of TJRC/NCIC/Commission of Inquiry into 2007 Post Election Violence/Ndung'u Land Commission. Independence of Judiciary and Police. Ending Impunity,” Khalwale said.
