Coast-based human rights group, Haki Africa explains that Miranda rights are specific rights that any person who is taken into police custody is entitled to.

1. You have the right to remain silent

If asked, give your name. But you still have the right to remain silent about everything else. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law.

2. Don't just sign anything brought to you

Do not sign any form/s or document/s brought to you without a clear knowledge of the content/s.

3. You have a right to an attorney present during any questioning

You have a right to speak to a lawyer or anyone that can be of assistance to you.
