Political analyst Prof Edward Kisang'ani has claimed that his counterpart Herman Manyora would rather be installed as a Luhya community leader and spokesman than settling for COTU boss Francis Atwoli.
In a tweet on Thursday, Kisang'ani noted that Manyora, also a political analyst was far much better being a Luhya spokesman compared to the veteran trade unionist.
Interestingly, this comes barely a day after Manyora suggested that Atwoli be made a Luhya leader who would be mandated to negotiate for the community's political alliances ahead of 2022 polls.
"I suggest we make our dear brother Manyora the Luyia community leader and may be spokesman. He is many miles better than Mzee Atwoli!" read Kisiang'ani's tweet.
On Tuesday, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula hit out at Francis Atwoli for convening Luhya leaders' meeting with an agenda of uniting the community ahead of 2022 elections.
The Bungoma Senator opined that Atwoli could not be trusted to be speaking on behalf of the community yet he failed in a past Khwisero constituency parliamentary elections.
Further, Wetangula claimed that the Luhya community was united with him and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi as leaders who can decide on its political direction.
“Atwoli is a man looking for relevance and attention and every time he plays his games, he has some people funding him,” said Wetangula as quoted by The Star.
Atwoli is among prominent Western Kenya leaders planning for a political rally that Kakamega Governor Wyclif Opranya described as mega.
The meeting scheduled for January 18, 2020, in Kakamega county is expected to provide directions for the community ahead of 2022 polls.
