The National Police Service has directed all female police officers to adhere to the dressing code, especially on their hairstyles.
According to a circular approved by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua, the National Police Service is keen on ensuring that all officers follow the set dressing code.
The circular quoted by Daily Nation states that all regional police commanders have been trusted in assuring that the dressing policy is adopted.
It condemns the act of female police officers having flamboyant and colourful hairstyles while in police outfit, terming it as a violation of the Kenya Police dress code.
"During my official tour around the country [in] the last one week, I have observed with a lot of concern that officers of all ranks have flawed the service's dress code especially women hairstyles while in uniform," Mbugua said in the circular as quoted by Nation.
"I observed with dismay exaggerated weaves and styles and over-coloured hairdos. Some officers could not even put on peaked caps or berets," he added.
The deputy police boss, in the circular, instructed the female cops to pull out the flamboyant hairstyles by January 1, 2020.
He said: "As from January 1, 2020, these overdone hairstyles will not be accepted."
