Moi University administration has closed its Main Campus indefinitely following demonstrations by students on Friday morning.
According to the memo from the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, learning was suspended after the demonstrations turned violent.
"Following the students unrest in the university's main campus leading to gross misconduct, destruction of property, harassment and injury of university officers and pursuant to the provisions of the university's act and Moi University's statute.
"A special meeting of the university's senate held on Friday 11th October 2019 has decided to indefinitely suspend academic programs at Main Campus with immediate effect," Part of the memo read.

The university through the office of the Dean of Students had on Thursday declared the gathering and demonstrations by students illegal.
The memo also indicated that the issues raised by the student leaders at the university would be addressed.
Moi University Students Organization (MUSO) had announced through a memo that they were left with no other option other than to demonstrate after the administration failed to engage them on matters that were affecting the students.
Some of the issues raised by the student leaders include; cooking in hostels, the fee for supplementary exams among others.
Police officers dispersed the students who were demonstrating using teargas as they engaged in running battles.
The students nonetheless continued with the demonstrations as they engaged in running battles with the police officers.
