Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday confirmed the signing of French midfielder Tanquy Ndombele on a club's record fee.
The signing of the 22-year-old has put Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama's future at the North London club in doubt.
Tottenham signed Ndombele from Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais famously known as 'Lyon' for a club record fee of 60 million euros (about Sh7 billion), which could rise to 70m euros (about Sh8.1 billion) with incentives.
The club had also signed another younger star Jack Clarke before sending him to Leeds United on loan.
"Delighted to have signed for @spursofficial and very excited for what the future brings. But for now, it’s back to @leedsunited to help them get back to where they belong," Tottenham retweeted Clark's tweet.
The club's new signings, specifically that of Ndombele, puts Wanyama's stay at Tottenham in doubts.
Wanyama had a bad 2018/2019 season, in which he played fewer games due to injuries and strong competition from the inform another French Moussa Sissoko.
Ndombele who plays a similar role as Wanyama, a defensive midfielder, has great skills in making great tackles. He is also very sharp in the enemy's box.
In the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League, his tackles against big clubs including Barcelona and Manchester City were incredible, which might have been one of the reasons why club manager Mauricio Pochettino considered him in his future plans.
Here is a short video showing his skills.
