The plea by a section of Migosi residents calling on the repair of the road that runs from Ezra Gumbe Primary School to Mamboleo showground has been heard by the area Member of the County Assembly (MCA).
The road is characterized by numerous potholes and coupled with rain being witnessed in various parts of the country, it sometimes becomes impassable.
Recently, residents led by one Kepah Masinde who operates a shop opposite the Ken Obura Primary and Secondary appealed to the County government to move with speed and repair the road.
“Whenever they repair roads within town they should also consider people in the estates by ensuring that major roads such as this one are passable,” said Masinde.
Migosi Ward area MCA Victor Rodgers Ochieng has said the road has been earmarked for construction under the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP).
“We are on top of things. This development you cannot say as the people’s representative that this road is bad we do it in this particular day and it is done, there are processes,” he said in an interview on Wednesday.
“We are privileged that KISIP did come on board and approved the construction of that road. It is in there budget that they are doing that road,” he added.
The MCA indicated that the work will start soon, falling short of indicating the amount of money allocated for the construction. He said that before construction work begins, they will start opening the drainage systems in the next one week so that rain water finds its way out of the road.
