Members of the Taita Taveta County Assembly on Tuesday passed governor Granton Samboja's supplementary budget, amid an ongoing stalemate.
The two sides have been locked in a bitter tussle lately, with each side seeking to have the other ousted, with Samboja seeking to have the assembly dissolved.
But the ward reps on Tuesday approved Sh5.7 billion budget, a huge chunk of which is set to be channelled towards the health sector.
Budget and Appropriations Committee Chair Godwin Kilele said that Sh200 million will be channelled towards procuring drugs for county public health facilities.
He added that rural health facilities will also be given a new look, and the Sh70 million owed to Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa) cleared.
"A total of Sh100 million has been allocated for the Moi County Referral Hospital while Wesu hospital, Mwatate hospital, Wundanyi hospital and Taveta subcounty hospital shall receive Sh50 million each,” Kilele said as quoted by the Star.
The other major beneficiary will be the education department, while Sh3.5 billion has been set aside for recurrent expenditure and Sh2.2 billion for development.
The executive and the assembly have been in a budget standoff since June when the Samboja refused to ascent to a budget passed by the house.
Last month, the governor survived an impeachment attempt mounted against him by the MCAs.
