Alliance for Real Change party leader Mohamed Abduba Dida has raised questions about the wealth of Deputy President William Ruto.
This is after photos of a helicopter DP Ruto allegedly owns emerged online airlifting a team of doctors from Moi and Teaching Referral Hospital (MTRH) to West Pokot to attend victims of landslides tragedy.
Commenting on one of the photos, Dida questioned how Ruto managed to buy a HI45 Airbus chopper which reportedly costs almost Sh1 billion.
The former presidential candidate said Ruto, who is a self-declared 'hustler', would have to sell six million chickens to afford such a chopper.
The DP is an established poultry farmer and used to hawk chickens in Uasin Gishu during his youthful years.
"The DP is flying a H145 Airbus Helicopter! The price is $9,697,000 or Ksh 992,487,950. That is equivalent to building 28 Mbagathi Girls High schools from scratch! The DP would have to sell 6 million chickens to buy that helicopter! Or, he would need to work as a DP for 56 yrs!" Dida tweeted on Tuesday.
While commending the DP for assisting West Pokot landslides' victims, NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua also questioned the source of his helicopters and billions.
"Good he is helping, but how did he acquire his choppers and ostentatious wealth or does the end justify the means?" posed the former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister.
Early this year, former Jubilee Party vice chairman David Murathe claimed Ruto owns 7 helicopters whose source remains unknown.
"Khalwale is on record saying he wants William Ruto to explain how he has acquired 4 or 5 helicopters, he now has 7. How he’s building a house worth Sh1.2 billion in Sugoi, where is the source of his money?" Murathe posed.
