Police have arrested two teachers on Tuesday from Ndutumi Secondary School in Murang'a County for allegedly defiling a form one student.
According to Julius Rutere who is a detective working in Murang'a, the deputy principal of the school was the first one to defile the girl. It is alleged that the deputy principal asked the student to remain in class before he committed the act. Her class teacher then assaulted her on the same day when she went to report the incident to him.
The girl then proceeded to report the matter to the principal of the school who called the police.
The detective added that the two suspects will be presented in court on Wednesday to face charges of defiling and committing an indecent act with a minor.
He nonetheless condemned the incident and termed it as unfortunate pointing out that the teachers who had been trusted by parents to take care of the children had turned into predators.
An article published by Nation reported that the incident took place on Sunday. Students who are day scholars had allegedly left for home while those who were in boarding had gone for a break.
The incident at Ndutumi Secondary School has intensified the discussion around the safety of female students in school. Last year, Moi Girls High School in Nairobi made headlines after a student was allegedly raped inside the school.
