This comes a few weeks after a storey building that was being constructed as a private hostel collapsed, killing a lady who was identified as a student.

Hivisasa.com highlighted that most hostels around the university were endangering students' lives since they were constructed hurriedly with substandard materials.

Rongo University Students Association (RUSA) chair Felix Adundo told Hivisasa that they had contacted NCA and they promised to inspect all buildings around the school.

"We have reached National Construction Authority through an email and they've promised to inspect all the buildings around Rongo university built for students and demolish all those that will not be meeting set out standard," said Adundo.

He further advised students to report the hostels that lack security and those that lack water to the institution so that they can be blacklisted.

"Students are being asked to report landlords giving raw deals. If you are staying in a hostel without water, proper security, electricity despite being promised by a landlord, you are urged to report so that the hostel can be blacklisted," he added.
