Sarah Wairimu, a prime suspect in the murder of her billionaire husband Tob Cohen on Wednesday through her lawyer Philip Murgor requested the court to hand her back the keys to her matrimonial home in Kitisuru.
According to Mrs Wairimu, the house is not part of the evidence.
“My client wants back her house because she still has her personal belongings there and she is still the owner,” Murgor stated as quoted by The Star.
Wairimu's lawyer further requested the investigating officer in the case Maxwell Otieno to give back the key to his client, citing that the house contained the accused's personal belongings.
The lawyer representing the family of the late Tob Cohen in the case Cliff Ombetta requested for more time to respond to the request.
He nonetheless pointed out that the house did not belong to Wairimu as per the will of the late businessman.
Lawyer Ombetta was given up to December 6th to respond to the application.
It is not the first time that Sarah Wairimu is fighting to access the Kitusuru home. She previously requested to be given her belongings from the house and had listed her clothes and car among other belongings.
State counsel Catherine Mwaniki opposed the application arguing that the house was a crime scene.
