Leaders in Machakos County are mourning two former Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in the county.

The two, former Kangundo West MCA Winston Kanui and former nominated MCA Ann Wairimu died in separate incidents on Wednesday.

Kanui died in his sleep in his home in Kakuyuni in a suspected case of choking while Wairimu lost her life in a grisly accident along the Nairobi-Kangundo road that claimed five lives.

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama is among the leaders who condoled with the families of the deceased.

"I mourn two dedicated leaders who served the people of Machakos with commitment. My heartfelt condolences to the family of the two leaders. My prayers and thoughts are with you during this very trying moment. Let their souls rest in eternal peace," read the post.

Former Machakos Speaker Benard Mung'ata eulogised the two as hardworking and dedicated leaders who did their best during their time in service.

"We are in mourning as Machakos, we have lost two people who will be remembered for their utmost dedication to their jobs. My condolences to their families," said Mung'ata in an exclusive interview.

Former Wamunyu MCA Kyalo Kyuli stated that the two leaders exhibited great wisdom in county assembly committees.

"We will forever remember their work now that they are gone. We have to accept and help the family wherever is needed," said Kyuli.
