A furious ODM leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday reprimanded a section of ODM leaders over the failing health of NASA Chief Executive Norman Magaya.
Early this week, tension engulfed the ODM party when a close confidant of Junet Mohamed, Mr Seth Odongo, claimed that Magaya had been abandoned.
According to Mr Odongo, ODM officials had ignored Mr Odinga's directive that Mr Magaya's bills are paid for at Nairobi Hospital, a statement that sparked criticism.
But in a rejoinder, Magaya, who is a close from of Odongo, dismissed the claims, arguing that the party had been helping him.
"I have had a recurrent heart condition for the past four months and been admitted in hospital on three occasions latest being last week .On all occasions both the coalition leadership and the @TheODMparty have stood with me," he said.
In a statement, the ODM party confirmed Magaya's condition and insisted that it will continue assisting him until he recovers fully from the hospital.
"The ODM Party is aware that Nasa CEO Norman Magaya has been unwell. We continue to support him in every possible way and wish him quick recovery. Every request for support has been dealt with as and when received by the party," read the tweet from the party.
However, a source close to Mr Odinga claims that Raila rebuked Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen and Finance Director Mr Kawino when the claims went viral on social media.
"He reprimanded Kawino and Ong'wen. He was disappointed that the directive was not adhered to despite contrary information from the party. He had to visit Magaya personally," said the source.
On Wednesday, Odinga was accompanied by nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi and Mathare MP Antony Oluoch to Nairobi Hospital where they visited Magaya.
Mr Magaya had suffered a heart attack with Mr Odongo sensationally claiming that he might have been poisoned in 2017 at the Bomas of Kenya during presidential election results tallying.
