Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti led a team of detectives into the home of Cohen at Nairobi's Kitisuru, found his discomposing body in an underground tank inside his own compound.

Addressing the media on Friday, Kinoti said the man was murdered.

“It is a gruesome murder, they took their time to kill innocent Cohen.

“He was bound; legs, hands and neck before he was murdered and then they hid him in an underground water tank. They took their time," said Mr Kinoti.

Disturbed Kinoti after seeing the body of the deceased described the offenders as heartless as he tried to come to terms why a human being could do such to fellow human beings.

“These people are heartless, absolutely heartless. If it’s money or even domestic strive, can't move anybody to move to that extent,” he wondered.

He said had secured the billionaire's home immediately after he was reported missing.

“From the onset when this matter was reported to us, I immediately ordered this place be preserved as a scene of the crime. We knew reasons why instinctively we had to preserve it as a scene of crime,” Kinoti noted.

Mr Cohen had gone missing between July 19 and 20.

Two people including the deceased's wife Cohen’s wife Sarah Wairimu are in custody over this case of murder.
