A group of fraudsters wanted to acquire money from the Keumbu Holiness Children's Home. A woman identified as Florence Barongo attempted to acquire Sh25 million from donors by purporting that she ruins the facility.

The story was covered by Geoff Gichana who is based in Kisii county.  The writer was tipped off about the story by sources privy to the matter.

Insourcing for the story, Gichana managed to exclusively interview the children’s home director, who revealed that fraudsters were forging documents to swindle potential donors.

After the story was published,  Kisii police immediately launched investigations into the matter. Kisii county police boss Martine Kibet exclusively told Hivisasa that they were calling on all victims to come forward.

Kibet stated that the Hivisasa story was an eye-opener for the authorities to swing into action. He further revealed that fraud and forgery of documents is a rooted problem in Kisii which they are bent on nailing.
