Likoni Channel is the busiest compared to the other channel located at Mtongwe, within Likoni Constituency.

Thousands of commuters and motorists are served on a daily basis, on a 24/7 basis.

There are key rules at the channel that users of the vessels are reminded to observe for their own safety and that of other users.

However, while some of these rules are mastered by daily users of the ferry, newcomers are not fully adhering to them.

Some of the things newcomers are doing at the channel, which can actually land them into trouble include:

1. Taking photos

Many people love taking pictures after visiting a place for the first time. Unfortunately, some places including Kenya Ferry, do not allow photography at the channel.

In most cases, security personnel at the channel confiscate phones from those who might have taken pictures without knowing the rule, delete the photos before handing the phone back to the owner.

Photography was restricted at the channel when terrorism scares were common at the Coast and across the country at large.

To avoid such trouble with security, avoid taking photos while using the vessels.

2. Not disembarking from a vessel

Some visitors are using the vessels for fun and not to cross the channel, and for this reason, they do not disembark once the vessel has docked. This is not allowed, all users are supposed to disembark from the ferry before others are allowed in. Failing to disembark from a vessel can be a source of trouble with the ferry management.

3. Not keeping an eye to family members

Users with kids are always asked to hold their hands so that they don't end up losing them. Incidents of kids disappearing are common, thus need to be extra alert and watch over your family members.

More so, be careful when crossing Likoni Ferry so that you do not end up regretting.
