The middle-aged man, Mbuvi Faundi who is a resident of Kisumu Ndogo slum in Nyali Constituency,  was arrested on suspicion that he may have killed his wife.

Esther Mwende's body was hanging from the roof of their bedroom with a rope tied around her neck on Friday morning, something that Faundi says shocked him as his wife seemed all right.

Mwende's friends told the police that she showed no signs of stress on Thursday when they last saw her.

“Mwende babysat my child on Thursday. Throughout my interaction with her, she did not portray any signs of being mentally or emotionally disturbed,” said Rose Chacha, a neighbour.

Chacha could not, however, tell if the death was as a result of domestic issues with the husband or not.

Nyali Sub-County Deputy Police Commander, Dafalla Ibrahim Dafalla, said the husband is being questioned as they wait for an autopsy to be conducted on the body.

“We are waiting for autopsy results to reveal Mwende’s cause of death,” said Dafalla.

Still in Mombasa, on Wednesday, a lawyer, Sammy Anyazwa committed suicide by jumping from the top of a building.

It was later revealed that Anyazwa had lost land worth Sh140 million located in Mtwapa in Kilifi County.
