Ivorian professional footballer Yaya Toure on Sunday congratulated Kenyan athlete Brigid Kosgei for smashing a 16-year-old women's marathon record in Chicago.
25-year-old Brigid Kosgei finished the marathon in 2 hours 14 minutes and 4 seconds, setting a new world record.
The record was previously held by Britains' Paula Radcliffe, who set a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds at the London Marathon in 2003.
"Wow!!! Congratulations Kosgei ! What a weekend for Kenya!!!," Yaya Toure tweeted.
Kosgei's achievement came just a day after yet another Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge made history in Vienna, Austria, during the INEOS 1:59 challenge when he became the first man to finish a full marathon in less than 2 hours.
Kipchoge crossed the finish line after 1 hour 59 minutes and 40 seconds.
"Wow! Congratulations my brother! Amazing achievement Making Africa proud," Yaya Toure tweeted on Saturday.
