William Makali Wamalwa, a son to the late former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa has been confirmed dead.
The death was confirmed on Monday morning at their palatial home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
Speaking to the media, Makali's uncle Robert Wamalwa said the death could have been as a result of diabetes that Makali was battling.
"My nephew was diabetic. That could have probably led to his death but, of course, when the official autopsy is out we will be able to know what happened" Robert told the Nation.
The family further dismissed claims trending on social media that their son died out of depression, alcohol and drug abuse terming them as propaganda.
"It is far from the truth. It is very unfair and people should not capitalise on something like that. They should respect the family and the dead," the uncle noted.
The family has asked Kenyans to remain patient as they wait for a post mortem result that will identify the real cause of the death.
Makali was a second-year student at the University of Nairobi pursuing commerce.
He is a third child of the late Kijana Wamalwa.
According to his uncle, Robert, the deceased was seemed very energetic and healthy on Sunday.
