The process of retrieving people who were trapped by the private hostel that collapsed around Rongo University has seen one dead body retrieved.
The operation began at around 1.00 PM on On Tuesday three hours after the hostel collapsed causing a scare in the area.
The deceased who has only been identified as a student in Siala is said to have been an attache at the construction site.
Information about the lady and the school she was studying still remains scanty.
According to the area chief Erick Ochieng', they counted the number of constructors who were at the site but the lady was missing. Later, this was confirmed after the Red Cross team found the body.
"Its only one lady who was trapped at the scene. After counting the number of construction workers, only one was missing," the chief said.
The policemen in conjunction with the Red Cross rescue team retrieved the body which is to be taken to the mortuary.
However, the students and villagers caused a commotion at the manner in which the police were whisking the body away without allowing the residents to view it.
The police vehicle was driven at a high speed as the residents started hurling water bottles at them.
