The jet which had been scheduled to fly Kipchoge to the Australian capital was being driven by two pilots.
The Gulfstream G280 was registered on March 4, 2016 in Britain and its registration number is M-INTY .
Nation reported that the jet was valued at a cost of $24.5 million which translates to about Sh2.4 billion.
During its course to Vienna, the jet was scheduled to make a stop at Luxor in Egypt for fueling.
According to the organizers of “INEOS 1:59 Challenge”, the flight was part of the agreement with the agreement with Kipchoge.
“The call made to fly Kipchoge from Kenya to Vienna was the first stage of a pre-agreed decision process by the INEOS 1:59 Performance team to select the best date for the INEOS 1:59 Challenge,” the organizers said.
Viena was picked as the best place for the competition due to its supportive weather conditions in October.
