Kenyan teacher Peter Tabichi who won the world's best teacher prize in 2019 has met Pope Francis in Rome.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Tabichi revealed how inspired he was to see how humble the Pope was when he met him. 

He said that during their meeting which took place in Santa Marta, Pope Francis asked him to pray for him.

On the other hand, the 2019 Global Teacher winner, asked the Pope to pray for Kenya and all the teachers.

He also went ahead to hope that 2020 will be a great year to many, a year that will be filled with hope, joy and new beginnings.

"Was inspired by the great humility of the @Pontifex. During the meeting at Santa Marta in Rome, he told me: “Pray for me, brother!”. I too replied: "Pray for us and all the teachers". May the new year be filled with new hope, new joy and new beginnings." Peter Tabichi wrote

Peter Tabichi started hitting the headlines after bagging the 2019 Global Teacher Prize of Sh100 million, 9 months ago.

In a statement at Citizen TV interview, the Kenyan teacher revealed that he is going to use a good percentage of the grand price on donations in the education sector.

“So are you going to donate more of the money?” Posed Jeff Koinange. The teacher responded: “Yes. Because they (students, teachers, and community) are the ones who have won, they’re the ones who will deserve it.”
