A 42-year-old man from Kirinyaga County was on Sunday found hanging from an avocado tree at a businessman's residence in Mirichi near Kianyaga trading centre.
Gichugu OCPD, Anthony Mbogo asserted that the victim identified as James Muriuki was reported missing by his relatives on Thursday only to be found dead on Sunday, January 5, at the businessman's residence.
The OCPD explained that the businessman's house is enclosed by a 15 ft perimeter fence with a galvanised razor wire clambered on it and that the owner, Lucy Wakuthii Ndambiri who is a widow reported the incident to the police.
“We are shocked the man decided to climb this 15 ft perimeter wall to commit suicide inside this home,” explained the OCPD.
The man was caught on CCTV footage hanging himself after walking for two kilometres from his home.
“We were wondering how he committed suicide at that home yet there is an electric fence and CCTV cameras,” his cousin Haron Muriithi stated.
