Activist Boniface Mwangi has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to legalize medicinal marijuana after several calls from other leaders on the same.
In a tweet on Friday, Boniface Mwangi argued that it is only poor people that get arrested for smoking marijuana, while rich people don't.
He associated the story of Governor Mike Sonko where he claimed that he used to smoke bhang with Governor Waititu in parliament toilet and they were not arrested.
"It’s only poor people who get jailed for smoking Marijuana...Uhuru should legalize medicinal marijuana. Khat (Miraa) is harmful but still legal" Boniface Mwangi said.
This follows an event in which Governor Sonko once admitted how he used to smoke weed with Waititu on an interview at Citizen several months ago.
"You should not listen to ... people like Waititu who speak under the influence... I have proof, we used to smoke weed with him and he used to hide it under the socks. I have since quit smoking it but Waititu continues to do the same as Kiambu governor," said Sonko.
Mwangi's sentiments follow similar calls by ODM leader Raila Odinga's son Raila Junior's calls to legalize bhang as well as the late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.
