Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions on social media after popular gospel musician Jimmy Gait revealed that Kenyan doctors had misdiagnosed him and wrongly recommended that he undergoes surgery.
The musician who had travelled to India for a medical check-up at BLK Hospital claimed if he had gone through with the surgery, then it would have graduated to stomach cancer.
The revelation by Jimmy gait sparked a debate on the type of healthcare offered by Kenyan doctors. According to Kenyans online, Jimmy Gait's situation represents that of many other Kenyans who could either not have realised they were misdiagnosed or probably did not have the means to express themselves.
Some of the netizens recommended for the evaluation of healthcare centres to ensure they meet the required standards of operation. A section of Kenyans on social media blamed the misdiagnosis on the incompetence of doctors, arguing that some of them may not be fully qualified.
Jimmy Gait revealed that he is suffering from hyperacidity and only needed to change his diet to overcome the condition.
A group of the netizens nonetheless had a hard time believing that Kenyan doctors could not diagnose a simple condition like hyperacidity and instead accused the singer of not being honest.
Here are some of the reactions.
