After covering a story of ailing Olympic legend Nyandika Mayioro who has been in Christamarianne hospital Kisii over Tuberculosis, now the Cabinet Secretary for interior Dr. Fred Matiang'i has moved him to VIP private ward and paid his hospital bill until he is out of hospital.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Nyandika who referred Matiang'i as his son has endlessly thanked him for coming to his rescue at the hospital.
"I thank my son Fred Matiang'i for paying my hospital bill. He has also moved me to a private ward where am well taken care of. Let God bless him," said Nyandika.

He is now appealing to the President and Kisii county government to intervene and help in solving a long term conflict between him and land grabbers who have taken up his land at settlement in Borabu, Nyamira county.
"Uhuru Kenyatta, Governor Ongwae I appeal to you, grabbers have taken up my land in Esikimu. Kindly as my sons come and rescue my land. My children have suffered for a long time," he said.
One of his sons Ken Nyandika has said they have never benefited from Government as his father was the ever first Kenyan to participate in international commonwealth games which Kenya participated for the first time in 1954.
