Bongo star Ommy Dimpoz was on Saturday crowed the Best Male musician in East Africa at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2019 held in Dallas, Texas.
Ommy Dimpoz emerged top in the region beating the likes of; Ali Kiba, Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Nyashinski, Juma Jux, Eddy Kenzo of Uganda, Khaligraph Jones, Rayvanny and Ben from Rwanda.
Shortly after winning the award, Ommy took to Instagram to appreciate his fans for the support.
"Your original, thank you so much tumepata tuzo moja, thank you for your votes and everything, am super exited , thank you so much," Ommy said.
His win surprised many considering the fact that he faced several challenges including; sickness that saw him undergo several operations.
Meanwhile, Akothee from Kenya was on Saturday crowned the Best Female musician in East Africa at the same event.
She emerged top in the region beating the likes of; Vanessa Mdee, Nandy, Victoria Kimani, Fena Gitu among others.
While receiving the award, Akothee urged fans to be unique in what they take part in.
"There is power in uniqueness, there is beauty in being unique," she opined.
