Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has finally commented on Deputy President William Ruto's alleged assassination plot.
Kibicho has been heavily mentioned as one of the powerful government officials from Mt Kenya region who were allegedly planning to kill the DP ahead of the 2022 general election.
Already, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned Cabinet Secretaries; Peter Munya (Trade), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and Health's Sicily Kariuki over the claims.
The trio, and a number of Principal Secretaries and parastatal heads from Mt Kenya have been accused of holding a series of secret meetings at the Hotel La Mada along Thika Road to scheme on how Ruto will be eliminated.
In an interview with Sunday Nation, Kibicho denied that the main purpose of La Mada meetings was to plan Ruto's assassination, and termed the claims as fake and not worthy of his time.
He said those who were spreading the falsehoods were out to drive a certain political agenda, and warned that their days were numbered.
“It is utter nonsense," said the Powerful PS. “There are people out there hawking falsehoods and they will be embarrassed.”
The remarks come at a time the DCI has established that the viral letter that linked Kibicho and others to the murder plot was fake.
Detectives are already pursuing two individuals who work in DP Ruto's communication team and are believed to be behind the letter.
