The leaders had organised a meeting in Mumias, while other Western Kenya leaders were gathered at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega, for a BBI forum.

The police had cautioned the leaders not to proceed with the meeting, but the leaders went ahead and gathered at the Nabongo sports ground, forcing the police to disperse them.

Police fired teargas in the air, forcing the leaders to scamper for safety.

Reacting to the occurrence in Mumias, Murkomen questioned whether Jubilee leaders needed to be teargassed just like their opposition counterparts were sometime back, before the country can embark on building bridges.

"Today we tear-gassed Western Kenya leaders most of whom are in Jubilee Party for planing a meeting in Mumias which is 38KM from Kakamega where we were hosting BBI unity meeting. In the new Kenya Jubilee leaders must be tear-gassed like we did with NASA before we can build bridges" Murkomen tweeted.

Meanwhile, former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has asked the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, to explain to the nation, the whereabouts of lawmaker Benjamin Washiali, who was allegedly taken by police on Friday night.

"The @IG_NPS should come out from his safe gimmicks and tell us where they took National Assembly Chief Whip Hon Benjamin Washiali after abducting him from his home at midnight. Holding him hostage in undisclosed place is a clear violation of Chapter 4 of our Constitution," he tweeted.
